1. iRobot Roomba j7+

The Roomba J7+, iRobot’s smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its biggest advancement, however, is its camera-based obstacle detection system. It makes use of AI to identify objects such as charging cables and shoes. It’s also the first to automatically send you a photo of an object it encounters to let you know to stay clear of it in the future.

In our tests the j7+ performed quick to clean up dust, dirt and pet hair. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one location instead of scattering it around the floor. It was able to collect small pieces of gravel, sand, and even a bit of grit. Most robots can’t achieve this feat. And it did all of this without getting tangled up in our pet’s shedding hair.

The j7+, though not as smart as the Roomba S9 for $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot, and cannot clean the stairs, is still an excellent choice for those who require both a vacuum and a mop. It’s not expensive and the IRobot app makes it user-friendly to use.

Although the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly however, we’ve found it to be less reliable than other apps that work with robotic cleaners. It can take a while to download updates and it’s sometimes difficult to determine if they are working until you actually see them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that does more than just clean your floors then a hybrid is the best choice. These bots are equipped with a tank of water so they can mop and vacuum at the same time. These bots also come with a variety of extra features like smart mapping and small object avoidance and the possibility of washing and re-drying mopping pads. They’re costly at retail, but they often are reduced on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock makes some of our favorite robotic vacuums and the Q5+ does not perform to the standards. This is the least expensive model of their auto-empty line. Although it doesn’t include some of the luxurious features (like no-go zones and multi-story memories) however, it’s a great choice when you’re willing to make a few compromises to save a few dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeable gentle around obstacles such as wall legs and table legs, which makes it a good choice for homes with lots of furniture. It’s also extremely thorough in cleaning dust bunnies, which is a problem where cheaper robot vacuums be a bit sloppy. The Q5+’s navigation system is also top-quality, with a few misses along walls or in corners.

Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled using the buttons on the device itself or through the Roborock app. The app allows you to start and stop cleaning. You can also set schedules, design virtual barriers and no-go zones, adjust your home map, or change the room’s label.

If you opt for the Q5+ it comes with a brand new auto-emptying dock, designed to make the robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver install, but once in place the process of emptying the bin is relatively easy. It has a large LCD screen that is very useful for setting up schedules or adjusting settings. This isn’t an essential feature for everyone however it will aid in keeping track of the intervals between maintenance for your robot easily.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a sophisticated, well-rounded vacuum and mop. It’s capable of mopping and vacuuming. Its design and functionality are among the most advanced available – but it’s also pricey.

It’s a small base station that looks stunning and can be hidden when not in use. The station’s most appealing point is how it automates many tasks and functions that other robots leave to you. The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially when it comes to navigation. Its LiDAR and laser sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs, meaning it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain rooms or corners of your home. It’s not able climb stairs as well as competitors, either, and it doesn’t have a dock that lets you to create a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets that are soft.

Although it doesn’t have the same amount of cleaning-related options in its app, or as many shortcuts in the app as other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for those seeking a great all-round robot vacuum and mop that’s worth the premium price cost.

If you’re looking to cut costs or don’t mind the limitations of the robot, there are many alternatives available. Many eufy models cost significantly less. The eufy Qrevo curv, for example, is cheaper and has more features, including stair climbing and a full-function Dock, that provides a better overall vacuuming experience on floors that are unfinished carpets with low pile as well as high-pile carpets.
